Do you send paper receipts / "we're going Digital" letters to new / renewing members?

I think I would like to / need to do this, but was wondering how you all, if any, do these letters?

I use Blackbaud's Altru, and am thinking I would need to "print" the membership cards and use that data output for receipt / welcome / digital info letters.

Have any of you done this, and do you have any advice for me?
