Add a Notification Follow
Create a notification associated with a beacon.
From the left sidebar, click Location Tools and select Notifications from the dropdown menu.
Click the Add a notification button from the upper righthand corner.
Select the type of notification: either one of the templates or from scratch.
Add content to the notification, including a title, text block, image and/or button.
Notification Text Length
Text blocks should be kept short and sweet. No more than 1 sentence, or a few words! We don't want to overwhelm the visitor.
In the above example, Create my own message was selected.
Click the Next button.
Click the Assign a beacon to this notification button.
Select the beacon by name (the text found on the beacon's label) from the drop down menu.
This step varies depending on which brand of beacon you are working with. Get all the info you need to know by visiting our pages on Estimote™ Beacon and BluVision™ (Beeks) Beacon.
Set the Trigger Level
The default Trigger Level range is "-70," which corresponds to about 10 feet.
Click the Save button.
Adjust other settings, including Time delay, Minimum Time Interval and/or Display Settings.
What is Time delay?
The "Time Delay" slider can be used to set a delay to offset a beacon trigger.
For the majority of your notifications this Time Delay will be set to 0 minutes. Why? Here's an example: if you used a single beacon to prompt a notification such as "Welcome to exhibition..." your Time Delay number should be "0 minutes" as you'd want the message to trigger instantly.
If you wanted to use that same beacon to prompt a notification when the visitor re-enter that same area on their way out, you could create another notification which uses that same beacon, but has an offset or delay. The notification wouldn't be triggered until the phone senses that beacon after X minutes (10, 20, 30 minutes, etc.)
Minimum Time Interval
"Minimum Time Interval" is the window of time the app will "ignore" the beacon before considering triggering a notification again. We set this to 5 minutes by default.
Why? If the visitors walks by an area where you'd like to trigger a notification, and the notification pops up, that's great. But if your visitors walks back to that same area a few minutes later, and you ping them again... it'd be redundant and a bit annoying. This is why we have this knob you can control.
